If your email app shows “Authentication failed”, “Wrong password”, or you can’t send/receive emails, follow this checklist. Most issues are caused by incorrect server settings.

1) Confirm which GARMTECH email service you use

GARMTECH can provide email as part of a hosting plan and also as a separate Business Email service. Each service can use a different server.

  • Open My.GARMTECHServices and check where your mailbox is created.
  • Use the server hostname from the same service for IMAP/SMTP.

2) Test the password via webmail

  1. Sign in to GARMTECH.Email.
  2. If you can log in, your password is correct and the problem is likely the app settings.
  3. If you cannot log in, reset/change the mailbox password first.

3) Verify the recommended settings

Use the server hostname from My.GARMTECH as the server name (do not use your domain name, because it can cause SSL certificate warnings).

  • Username: your full email address (example: user@yourdomain.tld)
  • Incoming server (IMAP‑SSL): your server hostname, port 993, SSL/TLS
  • Incoming server (POP3‑SSL): your server hostname, port 995, SSL/TLS
  • Outgoing server (SMTP‑SSL): your server hostname, port 465, SSL/TLS
  • SMTP authentication: enabled, using the same username/password

4) Check common app options

  • Outgoing server requires authentication must be enabled.
  • Encryption should be SSL/TLS (do not select “None”).
  • If your app asks for a security type, choose SSL/TLS.

5) If you enabled 2FA in GARMTECH.Email

If your mailbox has 2FA enabled, some apps require an app password instead of your normal password. Generate an app password in GARMTECH.Email and use it in the mail app.

6) Still not working?

  • Remove the account from the app and add it again from scratch.
  • Try a different network (home vs mobile). Some networks block outbound mail ports.
  • Check Plesk/hosting logs if you suspect the server is blocking connections.

Tip: when creating a support request, include a screenshot of your mail app settings (hide the password) and specify whether you use Hosting email or Business Email.
