If your email app (Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, etc.) shows an SSL/TLS certificate warning like:

  • “The certificate does not match the server name”
  • “The identity of the server cannot be verified”
  • “Certificate is not valid for this host”

…the most common reason is that the account is configured with the wrong incoming/outgoing server name.

Why this happens on hosting email

On GARMTECH, the SSL certificate for mail services is issued for the service server hostname. If you configure your email app with mail.yourdomain.tld (or an IP address), the certificate will not match and the app will warn you.

Correct server settings for GARMTECH Business Email

Use the hostname of the server where your hosting/email service is located (shown in My.GARMTECH service details).

  • Incoming (IMAP‑SSL): SERVER_HOSTNAME, port 993
  • Incoming (POP3‑SSL): SERVER_HOSTNAME, port 995
  • Outgoing (SMTP‑SSL): SERVER_HOSTNAME, port 465

Authentication: enabled for SMTP. Username is the full email address (e.g., user@example.com).

How to fix the account

  1. Open your email account settings in the mail app.
  2. Replace incoming and outgoing server names with your SERVER_HOSTNAME.
  3. Ensure SSL/TLS is enabled and ports are correct (993 / 995 / 465).
  4. Save changes and restart the app.

If you prefer webmail

You can always access your mailbox via GARMTECH.Email.

Tip: don’t “accept permanently” without fixing

Accepting an incorrect certificate warning permanently can be unsafe. The correct solution is to use the proper server hostname so the certificate matches.
