Set MX records for your domain (GARMTECH Email / Hosting mail)

MX records decide where your domain receives email. If MX records point to the wrong place, you may see problems like “not receiving email”, bounces, or messages going to an old provider.

This guide explains how to set MX records for email hosted on GARMTECH (mailboxes created in Plesk or on a GARMTECH Business Email service).

1) Find your GARMTECH mail server hostname

On GARMTECH, the correct incoming mail server hostname is the server hostname of your email/hosting service.

  • Open My.GARMTECHServicesMy Services.
  • Open the service where you created the mailbox (Hosting or Business Email).
  • Look for the Server Hostname value (example format: s###.garmtech.com).

Important: GARMTECH.Email is the webmail interface. It is not the hostname you should put into MX records.

2) Make sure the domain mail service is enabled (Plesk)

If your mailbox is hosted in Plesk, the domain must have mail service enabled.

  1. Log in to Plesk (you can open it from your service page in My.GARMTECH).
  2. Go to Websites & Domains → select the domain.
  3. Open Mail Settings.
  4. Enable Activate mail service on this domain (wording may vary) and save.

3) Add MX records

You must add MX records at the authoritative DNS provider for your domain.

Option A: Your domain uses GARMTECH nameservers (DNS in Plesk)

  1. Plesk → Websites & DomainsDNS Settings.
  2. Remove MX records that belong to other email providers (for example old hosting, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365).
  3. Add (or edit) one MX record for the root of the domain (@) pointing to your server hostname:
Type: MX
Mail domain: @
Priority: 10
Mail exchanger: s###.garmtech.com

Save changes and click Update to apply the DNS zone.

Option B: Your domain uses external DNS (for example Cloudflare)

Add the same MX record in your external DNS dashboard. Changes made in Plesk DNS will not apply while your nameservers point elsewhere.

4) Wait for DNS propagation and test

  • DNS changes can take time to propagate (depending on TTL and caches). During this time, some senders may still deliver mail to the old MX.
  • After propagation, send a test email from an external address (for example Gmail) to your domain mailbox.

After MX is correct, configure sender authentication records (SPF/DKIM/DMARC) for better deliverability and fewer spam issues.
