If you reinstall your VPS, migrate to a new VPS, or your main server IP changes, Plesk may show licensing issues until you reinstall/sync the license.
Note: A Plesk license is normally intended for one server/IP at a time. Avoid running the same license on two active servers simultaneously.
1) Before you reinstall/migrate
- Make a backup (website data, databases, and Plesk configuration if needed).
- Find and save your Plesk activation code in My.GARMTECH (services/addons → Plesk license).
- Plan a maintenance window if the server is in production.
2) Apply the license on the new VPS / fresh installation
- Install Plesk on the new system (or log in if it is already installed).
- Open Tools & Settings → License Management.
- Click Install/Reinstall and enter your activation code.
- After installation, click Retrieve Keys to sync the license.
3) If the license does not activate
- Make sure your VPS has internet access and correct DNS resolution.
- Check server time/date (NTP) — incorrect time can break validation.
- If you migrated to a different IP and the license still refuses to activate, open a ticket in My.GARMTECH and request a license reissue/update (include old IP and new IP). (/tickets/create/step1)
