Enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Cloud Storage account. After enabling 2FA, you may need an app password for desktop/mobile sync clients that do not support interactive 2FA prompts.
GARMTECH Cloud Storage is powered by Nextcloud (you may see this name inside the interface).
1) Log in to Cloud Storage
- Open your Cloud Storage URL (shown in My.GARMTECH service details or the welcome email).
- Log in with your Cloud Storage username/email and password.
2) Enable 2FA (if available)
- Click your user avatar/name (usually top right).
- Open Settings (sometimes “Personal settings”).
- Open Security.
- Find Two-Factor Authentication and enable your preferred method:
- Authenticator app (TOTP) — scan the QR code in Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, etc.
- Other methods may be available depending on the system configuration.
- Confirm and store your backup/recovery codes if provided.
If you do not see 2FA options: your Cloud Storage instance may not have 2FA enabled. In that case, you will not be able to turn it on from your user settings.
3) Create an app password for sync clients (recommended)
After enabling 2FA, some clients cannot log in with your normal password + code. Use an app password instead.
- Go to Settings → Security.
- Find App passwords (may be under “Devices & sessions”).
- Create a new app password and give it a clear name (example: “Windows sync”, “iPhone”).
- Copy the generated password and use it in the sync client instead of your normal password.
4) Review active sessions
In the same Security area, you can review active sessions/devices and log out devices you no longer use.
Tip
Create a separate app password per device. If one device is lost, you can revoke only that password without changing your main password.
