Cloud Storage at GARMTECH is powered by Nextcloud. Nextcloud includes two very useful recovery features:
- Deleted files (Trash) — helps restore files you deleted by mistake.
- File versions — lets you restore an older version of a file after accidental changes.
Restore deleted files (Trash)
- Log in to your Cloud Storage in the browser.
- Open the Files app.
- Find Deleted files in the left sidebar.
- Locate the file/folder and click Restore.
Notes:
- Deleted files are kept for a limited time. Retention depends on storage usage and system policy.
- If you delete a file locally while using the desktop sync client, it is usually moved to “Deleted files” as well (unless you also emptied it).
Restore a previous version of a file
Versions are useful when you overwrite a document or want to undo edits.
- In Files, locate the file.
- Open the file’s Details (usually via the info icon or a context menu).
- Open the Versions section.
- Select the version you want and click Restore (or download it).
Best practices to avoid data loss
- For important folders, consider keeping an additional offline backup.
- Be careful when using “delete permanently” actions — they may bypass the Trash.
- If you collaborate on documents, versions help you recover accidental edits.
