Plesk SSL warning in a browser: use your server hostname (GARMTECH)

If you open Plesk in a browser and see a security warning like “Your connection is not private” or “Certificate is not valid for this name”, the most common reason is that you are using the wrong URL (for example an IP address or a domain name that is not on the server certificate).

On GARMTECH services, Plesk should be opened via your service server hostname (shown in My.GARMTECH) or via the Login to Plesk button.

Step 1 — Open Plesk the correct way

Option A (recommended) — Use the My.GARMTECH button

  1. Log in to My.GARMTECH.
  2. Open Services → select your Hosting service.
  3. Click Login to Plesk (sometimes shown as a MyGARMTECH button).

Option B — Use the server hostname

  1. In the same service page, find your Server Hostname (sometimes called “Server Name”).
  2. Open it in the browser with HTTPS, for example:
https://SERVER_HOSTNAME

If the server uses a specific Plesk path or port, it will redirect you automatically. Always follow the HTTPS URL shown in My.GARMTECH for your service.

What not to use

  • Do not open Plesk by IP address (for example https://203.0.113.50).
  • Do not open Plesk by a random hosted domain if the certificate was issued for the server hostname.

If the warning still appears

  • Try an incognito/private browser window.
  • Clear browser cache for the hostname.
  • Make sure the device date/time is correct (wrong time often causes certificate validation errors).

Advanced: HSTS can “lock” the warning

If you previously visited the same hostname with an incorrect certificate and HSTS was enabled, the browser can continue forcing HTTPS rules.

  • Try another browser or another device.
  • If you manage HSTS for your own domain (for example via a security plugin or Cloudflare), confirm it is configured correctly before enabling it.

Good to know

  • For secure connections on GARMTECH, always use the server hostname shown in My.GARMTECH (this is also important for FTP‑SSL and email apps).
  • Certificate warnings should not be ignored: they can indicate a wrong hostname or a real security risk.
