Plesk requires a valid license to work correctly. If the license is expired or invalid, you may see warnings in the panel and some features may stop working.
Common license messages
- License key is invalid
- License has expired
- Could not retrieve license key
1) Check license status in Plesk
- Log in to Plesk on your VPS.
- Open Tools & Settings → License Management (or License Information).
- Review the status and expiration date.
2) Retrieve keys (quick fix)
In the same section, click Retrieve Keys / Update to sync your license with the licensing server. This fixes many temporary issues.
3) Reinstall the license using the activation code
If retrieval does not help, reinstall the license:
- Go to Tools & Settings → License Management.
- Choose Install/Reinstall and enter your activation code.
- Confirm and wait for Plesk to apply the license.
Where to find your activation code
- In My.GARMTECH → your services/addons → the Plesk license details.
- Or in the order confirmation email/invoice (depending on your setup).
4) Check common root causes
- Wrong server time/date: fix NTP/time sync (
timedatectl on systemd systems).
- Outbound firewall: the server must be able to reach licensing servers over the internet (usually HTTPS).
- DNS issues: make sure your VPS can resolve external domains (check
/etc/resolv.conf).
5) If the license is actually expired
Renew the license in My.GARMTECH, then return to Plesk and click Retrieve Keys again.
If it still doesn’t work
Open a ticket in My.GARMTECH and include: VPS IP, exact error message, and a screenshot of the License Management page. (/tickets/create/step1)
