The server hostname is the official name of the server that hosts your GARMTECH service (Website Hosting, WordPress Hosting, Business Email, VPS, etc.). On GARMTECH it is important because:

  • Website uploads are supported only via FTP‑SSL (FTPS), and the SSL certificate is issued for the server hostname.
  • Email apps must connect to the correct mail server (IMAP/SMTP) using the hostname.
  • Direct access to Plesk works reliably via the service hostname.

Where to find the hostname in My.GARMTECH

  1. Sign in to My.GARMTECH.
  2. Open Services → My Services.
  3. Click the service you want to manage (for example, your hosting plan or Business Email service).
  4. On the service details page, find Server Information and look for Hostname (or “Server Name”).

Important: if you have multiple services, each one can be on a different server and will have a different hostname. Always use the hostname from the same service you are configuring.

How to use the hostname

1) FTP‑SSL (FTPS) for website uploads

Use the hostname as the FTP host to avoid certificate warnings.

  • Host: your service hostname (from My.GARMTECH)
  • Protocol: FTP
  • Encryption: Require explicit FTP over TLS (FTP‑SSL / FTPS)
  • Port: 21
  • Username/Password: your FTP user credentials from the service/Plesk

2) Email apps (IMAP/SMTP)

For email clients (Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, mobile apps), use the hostname as the incoming and outgoing server address:

  • IMAP‑SSL: port 993
  • POP3‑SSL: port 995
  • SMTP‑SSL: port 465 (authentication required)

Use the full email address as the username (for example, user@yourdomain.tld).

3) Plesk access

The recommended way is to use the Login to Plesk button inside My.GARMTECH. If you need direct access, open:

https://YOUR‑HOSTNAME

Common mistakes

  • Using your domain as the server name for FTP/email → can cause an SSL certificate warning. Use the service hostname instead.
  • Mixing hostnames between services (for example, using a hosting hostname for Business Email) → leads to login failures.
  • Old saved settings → if you recently migrated or upgraded, always re-check the hostname in My.GARMTECH.
