Custom error pages help your website look professional and can reduce support requests. On GARMTECH Hosting you can configure custom error pages in Plesk for common HTTP errors such as 404 Not Found, 403 Forbidden, and 500 Internal Server Error.

How it works on GARMTECH Hosting

  • Plesk can serve predefined error pages from the error_docs directory.
  • Our hosting uses LiteSpeed Enterprise, which is compatible with standard Plesk error document handling.

Step 1 — Enable custom error documents

  1. Log in to Plesk (open it from My.GARMTECH).
  2. Go to Websites & Domains and click the required domain.
  3. Open Hosting Settings.
  4. Enable Custom error documents.
  5. Click OK / Apply.

Step 2 — Edit the error pages in error_docs

  1. In Plesk open Files (File Manager) for the same domain.
  2. Open the folder error_docs.
  3. Edit or replace the HTML files for the error codes you want to customize.

Typical filenames include:

  • 404.html — Not Found
  • 403.html — Forbidden
  • 500.html — Internal Server Error
  • 503.html — Service Unavailable (useful for maintenance)

Step 3 — Test your custom pages

Best practices

  • Keep error pages lightweight (plain HTML + minimal CSS). Avoid heavy JavaScript that may fail during server errors.
  • Add a link back to the homepage and (optionally) a search field on 404 pages.
  • If you use multilingual websites, you can either create a neutral page or implement language detection in your application.

If your changes do not appear

  • Clear your browser cache (or test in an incognito window).
  • If you use Cloudflare or another CDN, purge cache there as well.
