Add an additional domain in Plesk (Domain Alias vs Add Domain)

In Plesk you can attach another domain to your GARMTECH hosting in two different ways. Choosing the correct option avoids SEO issues and makes SSL/email work as expected.

Option 1: Domain Alias (same website on another name)

Use Domain Alias when you want the same website to open on both domains (for example example.com and example.net).

1. Open Plesk → Websites & Domains.
2. Click Add Domain Alias.
3. Enter the alias domain name (the additional domain).
4. Select the main domain it should point to.
5. (Recommended) Enable Web service and keep Redirect with HTTP 301 enabled if you want one “primary” domain for SEO.
6. Click OK.

Option 2: Add Domain (separate website)

Use Add Domain when you want a separate website with its own files and settings.

1. Open Plesk → Websites & Domains.
2. Click Add Domain.
3. Enter the new domain name and choose the document root (Plesk will create a separate folder).
4. Click OK.

Note: Availability of “Add Domain” depends on your hosting plan limits. If the button is not available, you can still use subdomains or upgrade the plan in My.GARMTECH.

DNS and nameservers

• If the new domain uses GARMTECH nameservers (ns1.garmtech.com, ns2.garmtech.com, ns3.garmtech.com), you can manage DNS in Plesk.
• If DNS is elsewhere, create the required A/CNAME records at your DNS provider so the domain points to your hosting server.

SSL for the additional domain

After adding the domain/alias, install an SSL certificate for it in Plesk → SSL/TLS Certificates (Let’s Encrypt is usually the easiest).

Email for the additional domain

If you plan to use email on the new domain, make sure you have correct MX records in DNS and create mailboxes in the appropriate service (Plesk mailboxes for hosting, or Business Email if you use that service).
