Password protection is useful when you need to restrict access to a part of your website (for example a /staging folder, internal docs, or a development area).

1) Open “Password-Protected Directories”

  1. Log in to Plesk (via My.GARMTECH).
  2. Go to Websites & Domains and select the required domain.
  3. Click Password-Protected Directories.

2) Add a protected directory

  1. Click Add Protected Directory.
  2. Enter the directory name/path you want to protect (for example staging or private).
  3. Save.

3) Create a user for access

  1. Open the created protected directory from the list.
  2. Click Add New User.
  3. Set a username and a strong password, then save.

How it works

  • When someone opens the protected URL, the browser will ask for a username and password.
  • This is not the same as WordPress admin login — it is an additional protection layer.

Remove protection

To remove protection, go back to Password-Protected Directories and delete the protected directory or remove its users.
