A domain transfer moves domain management to GARMTECH (registrar change). In most cases, a transfer also extends the domain by one year (depends on TLD rules).
Before you start
- Make sure you can access the domain’s admin email (transfer approval is often sent there).
- Most TLDs cannot be transferred within 60 days after registration or a previous transfer.
- Recommended: start the transfer while the domain is active (not expired).
Step 1 — Prepare the domain at the current registrar
- Unlock the domain (disable “Registrar lock”).
- Request the EPP/Auth code (transfer code).
- If you use WHOIS privacy and do not receive transfer emails, temporarily disable privacy (optional, depends on the registrar/TLD).
Step 2 — Start the transfer in My.GARMTECH
- Log in to My.GARMTECH.
- Open Domains → Transfer Domain (menu names may differ slightly).
- Enter the domain name and the EPP/Auth code.
- Complete checkout and pay the transfer invoice.
Step 3 — Approve the transfer
- Watch for approval emails sent to the domain contact email.
- Approve the transfer as soon as possible to avoid delays.
- Typical transfer time is a few days, depending on the TLD and the losing registrar.
What happens to DNS and the website?
- A registrar transfer does not automatically change nameservers. Your website and email should keep working during the transfer if DNS is correct.
- After the transfer completes, you can manage renewals, WHOIS details, DNSSEC, and other domain features in My.GARMTECH.
