Starting from 1 January 2023, GARMTECH web hosting will no longer support unsecure FTP connections. Instead, they will only support secure FTPS connections. This change is being made to protect the security of customer data and to ensure compliance with industry standards.

There are several benefits to using FTPS on GARMTECH web hosting. First, FTPS uses encryption to secure the data being transmitted between the FTP client and the server. This protects against eavesdropping and other forms of cybercrime. Second, FTPS is more reliable than FTP, as it is less prone to errors and interruptions. Finally, FTPS is easier to set up and use than other secure file transfer protocols, such as SFTP or HTTPS.

There are several drawbacks to using FTP, which is why it is being phased out in favor of FTPS. First, FTP is inherently unsecure, as it does not encrypt data during transmission. This makes it vulnerable to cyber attacks and data breaches. Second, FTP is prone to errors and disruptions, which can cause delays and inconvenience for users. Finally, FTP is not compliant with industry standards and regulations, which can lead to legal and financial consequences for organizations.

To switch from FTP to FTPS on GARMTECH web hosting, you will need to update your FTP client settings. Here are instructions for the three most popular FTP clients:

1. FileZilla:

• Open FileZilla and go to the "Edit" menu.

• Select "Settings" and then go to the "Connection" tab.

• Under "FTP", select "FTPS" from the "Encryption" dropdown menu.

• Click "OK" to save your changes.

2. Cyberduck:

• Open Cyberduck and go to the "File" menu.

• Select "Preferences" and then go to the "Transfers" tab.

• Under "Protocol", select "FTPS (Explicit)" from the dropdown menu.

• Click "Save" to apply your changes.

3. WinSCP:

• Open WinSCP and go to the "Session" menu.

• Select "Session Settings" and then go to the "Connection" tab.

• Under "Protocol", select "FTPS" from the dropdown menu.

• Click "OK" to save your changes.

By switching to FTPS on GARMTECH web hosting, you can ensure the security and reliability of your file transfers.
